A New Year
December 18, 2017 | News & EventsAs 2017 quickly comes to a close, the JA team likes to take some time to look back at all that has been accomplished so far this school year. We are fortunate enough to be part of a city that always answers the call when it comes to serving students in the community. This year JA Kentuckiana is striving to reach more students than ever with a goal of bring JA programs to 69,000 students. This is a lofty goal that is well on its way to being met.
An impressive 38,000 students have already welcomed a JA volunteer into their classrooms this school year! That is thanks to the thousands of volunteers who give their time and enthusiasm to Kentuckiana students. From traditional classroom programs to JA BizTown, JA Finance Park, and JA in a Day students are able to participate in Junior Achievement in more ways than ever. We are looking forward to another semester of bringing financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship lessons to as many students as possible.
Another accomplishment this year, was the bigger than ever JA Inspire event. In October more than 9,000 eighth and ninth grade students attended JA Inspire to learn firsthand the career opportunities that are available in the Kentuckiana area. 98 local companies and organizations came out in droves to mentor students with hands on experiences to share what they do. “JA really helped me narrow down my career options. I feel like I have really found out what I should do.” Students have shared so many wonderful thoughts on the experience that we at JA are already looking forward to bringing JA Inspire to students again next year.
It’s been a fantastic start to the school year, and we at Junior Achievement are anticipating an exciting new year. Thank you to all of the Teachers, Volunteers, and Donors who make what we do possible. With your help and support more Kentuckiana students than ever will receive the life changing programs that have become so well known to students.
