Russell Community Clean-Up
March 10, 2017 | News & EventsAs proud members of the West Louisville community we would like to encourage everyone who is able to come out to support the Russell neighborhood. Come help make the neighborhood look as great as we know it is! Louisville Metro Government is working with Russell residents and stakeholders to plan a major clean-up on Saturday, March 18th from 8:30am-noon. Metro teams have already tackled all 9.23 miles of alleys in the neighborhood. The hope is to mobilize volunteers from throughout Russell and the city to assist with trash pick-up elsewhere in the neighborhood on a massive scale.
Neighborhood beautification is a contagious condition- it leads to empowerment, community pride and less crime. By coming together to help the Russell neighborhood, we make a statement against the violence and for community unity. So please join us as neighbors, community leaders, city employees and citizens unite to clean up Russell and celebrate with a community picnic that sends a strong message that violence isn’t welcome here. Please share the attached flyer with your family, friends, neighbors and other networks to help raise awareness of this great event.
Most will gather at Baxter Square Park to start the day. If it is more convenient to start the clean-up from another location, that’s great too. We hope you will join us at noon for a community picnic at Baxter Square Park, which is located at W. Jefferson Street and S. 12th Street. We are also asking volunteers to bring brooms, dustpans, buckets and litter pickers. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
